My stitching history began when I was six years old – my mom taught me how to do some basic stitches. Since that time, I’ve been stitching. About a year ago I decided to have a go at making the first cross stitch design of my own. Hardly was I satisfied with the result, but a clear realization came to me: I must give it a better try. It took me long way from taking several online courses, exploring numerous blogs and YouTube videos and studying online pattern design tools to actually outlining fundamental principles to follow in my pattern-creation process. Here they are, my carefully collected and processed observations.
First comes limited the number of colours per project. I personally avoid big pallets and view them as stop signs. Although it is true that the larger amount of colours in pattern, the more detailed it looks – several obstacles might hinder your work. To begin, it is pretty difficult to deal an excessively colorful pattern as the embroider should remain highly focused and change the colours extremely often. This can be very annoying and stressful for the embroider, especially when a beginner. What’s more, it can get pretty expensive to buy the whole skein of threads, such as an 8 meters long DMC skein, to use only 20-30 centimeters of it. And last but not least, all those left-over threads have to be organized and stored somewhere. Taking into consideration all that, I’ve decided to create patterns with a small variety of colours to make your embroidery process way more comfortable.
Second issue of importance is the stiches. I stitch my patterns in the most common techniques. All in all, I could admit using no more than 10 types of stitches which allows me to practice basic stitches in various patterns and perfect your skills.
Third to mention are videos of embroidery process recorder in real time. Go to my YouTube channel to find my patterns put together in a playlist. The playlist consists of both the summery of stitching process and videos of real-time embroidery elements stitching. You will see that it takes time to finish the pattern even for advanced embroiders.
Forth revelation to keep in mind is related to patterns. I am willing to bring something beautiful into the world through my patterns. That’s why I mainly focus on floral patterns with tender colours, smooth lines and light textures.
Fifth point worth to share roots in educational videos. I’ve spent a lot of time exploring the topic, and I would like to gift the results of my thorough analysis to you. My YouTube channel offers videos with life-hacks to make your work easier and the embroidery process more pleasant.
To sum up, let me declare that every pattern I design is full of love and hope that you will enjoy them.
